ABOUT THE STASH
I’m 50. I have a physics degree and I’m here to tell you retirement shouldn’t require one.
I wasted my twenties (the newsletter goes into that; it's not pretty).
Spent my 30s getting married, buying a house, getting divorced, and changing jobs.
Through all of it, I was flying by the seat of my pants and living paycheck to paycheck
So now I'm 50 and the math is what it is.
Some days retirement feels doable. Some days it feels like a sticky clutch that keeps on grinding.
What I've learned is that the system isn't built for guys like us. The standard "save in your 20s, retire at 65 in the house you've lived in for 40 years" won't work for us cuz we didn’t start saving in our 20s.
But there are other paths.
Cheaper places to live, different ways to work, smart moves we never got told about because we weren't the audience the financial industry was talking to
So now I'm writing The Stash every week to share what I'm figuring out as I go.
Not as a guru... just another guy climbing the same hill.

You're in your 40s or 50s. Life happened. Kids, rent, a divorce, a job that went sideways, a transmission that died at the worst possible time.
Retirement was always a someday thing. Now someday is getting close, and the number in your account doesn't look like the ones in the commercials.
You're not dumb and you're not lazy. Nobody ever sat you down and explained this stuff without making you feel like an idiot.
01
It's the stuff guys like us actually deal with, from catching up on savings to what your ex is still costing you.
02
Small and doable. No spreadsheet degree required.
03
Wins and screw-ups. No sugarcoating.
04
Because if we can't laugh about this, we'll cry about it.
