🌳 THE SHADE
Say Homies…
Did you guys know that we’re on social media?
We have an amazing lady that creates posts from our content, and they are quite amazing, dare I say, hilariously funny sometimes. Other times not so funny but very informative.
So grab some shade and check them out.
Don’t like TikTok? Check them out on Facebook. Hate Facebook? Check them out on Instagram. Despise Instagram? Well then, you’re back to TikTok.
🌰 THE NUT
Now where were we? Ah yes, Louis, the wonder years. What hijinks did he get up to? What lessons did he learn that are helping him plan retirement?
First off, never fry bacon when you’re naked.
Secondly, if your sister tries to get you to jump off the roof while holding a garbage bag because “It’ll work just like the umbrella did for Bugs Bunny,” don’t do it.
I think that should cover the first 18 years.
I screwed around in high school, so my grades weren’t very good.
My parents didn’t have the money to send me to college, and I certainly couldn’t afford college on the 4 cents an hour I was making as a dishwasher.
Most of my friends were becoming mothers and fathers, and I figured if I didn’t do something, I’d end up having a shower of my own. I can barely take care of myself at 50, let alone myself and a child when I was 18.
Plus I wanted to see the world and get some training in a field that I could actually make a living at.
So, I joined the Navy right out of high school. It gave me the opportunity to serve my country and figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I ended up scoring pretty well on my assessment test and got into a program that taught me how to work on electronics.
I also learned how to hang out and have fun with my friends, which became one of the driving factors in my life over the next 10 to 15 years. I couldn’t stand being home alone. It was always more fun to be out with my friends, having a beer and socializing than it was being in a tiny apartment staring at a TV.
And by socializing, I mean looking for a girlfriend.
When I got out of the military, I got a job making what was decent money back then, but it was still hard to make ends meet.
Turns out, going out all the time costs a lot of money.
I was smoking too.
I figure that, with what I spent going out and buying smokes, I could have bought 67.2538746% of a house.
It was during that time that I learned a little about economics, namely supply and demand.
The cable company would demand I pay them and I wouldn’t, so they cut off my supply.
It was also around this time that I learned how much better it is not being married to the wrong woman.
So what does this all mean? How do I apply the lessons learned to retirement today?
There are a few things.
For one, don’t spend a lot of time at Mistress Maggie’s House of Ill Repute. Not even on double coupon night… especially not on double coupon night.
Another thing I learned was how to cultivate long vision.
Sounds fancy, but it just means looking out years down the road to see where you want to get to.
I can’t do anything about the past, and I certainly can’t get that 67.2538746% of a house back.
But sure as shit, I can look down the road to where I want to be 10, 15 years from now and start planning how to get there.
I also learned that no matter how much your sister promises you, if you jump off the roof holding a trash bag, you will not float gently down to the ground like they do in the cartoons.
